For the essentials of a platform game, I chose to watch a tutorial from the same guy who did the asteroids tutorials, Shaun Spalding. I learned how to create gravity, blocks, and a character. My problems were, that sometimes his code would only be compatible with Gamemaker 2, what he was using in his tutorials. So, I had to modify some of the code. All of my visuals, like the sprites, are simple and my own. I created the jumping spike on my own, with the knowledge I had from making the enemies with the tutorial's help. The room design was my own. Some of the code I had to do alone, since I had not much time, like the death animation and actions when the character touches an enemy or spike. I have an unfinished idea too, which was a breakable block, which had all the same properties as the normal blocks, except it had health. I tried to fix it, but I did not know what was wrong.
/15 Functionality - Does the game work as intended? Does anything happen that should not?
/15 Coding - Does the coding look organized and easy to follow?
/10 Concepts - Do the level concepts seem reasonable to achieve and are somewhat interesting? Are the obstacles interesting?
